There were no injuries reported on Korean Air Co.’s flight KE631 that overran the runway during landing at Cebu International Airport in the Philippines on Monday. With additional services to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, Emirates will provide new travel opportunities for customers traveling to and from South Africa. As of March 1, 2023, the airline will offer three daily flights to and from Johannesburg. From 1 February 2023, double daily services will be offered to Cape Town. Lufthansa canceled hundreds of flights Friday after pilots staged a one-day strike to press their demands for better pay and conditions at the country’s biggest carrier in support of their demands. During the walkout, the airline reported about 800 flights were grounded at its two largest hubs, Frankfurt and Munich, as a result of the walkout. Nearly 35,000 Emirates flights were operated to 130 destinations this summer, carrying more than 10 million passengers. The airline also ramped up operations to serve customer demand during this busy period. The first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) offering services in the Middle East and North Africa, Air Arabia has announced that it will launch direct flights from Sharjah to Milan, the capital city of Italy. A380 flights will be reintroduced to Perth from 1st December as part of Emirates’ service ramp-up to Australia. As a result of the upgrade, Emirates will have close to 500 seats available on every flight between its hub Dubai and Perth. The EK420 flight from Dubai departs at 02:45, arriving in Perth at 17:20, while the EK421 flight departs from Perth at 22:20, arriving in Dubai at 05:25 the following morning. An agreement has been signed between Malaysia Airlines and aircraft leasing company Avolon to replace its ageing fleet of A330 widebody jets with 20 Airbus A330neos. According to the carrier, 10 of the planes will be acquired from Airbus and then leased directly from Avolon, with the remaining 10 being purchased from Airbus. A Rolls-Royce engine will power the planes, which will be delivered between 2024 and 2028, according to the airline. In the coming winter, Etihad Airways will offer an additional daily service between the UAE and Manila. As of 30th October, there will be a second daily flight between Abu Dhabi and Manila.
